Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need to have experience practicing meditation?
No. You can take our courses even if you have never practiced meditation in your life. The classes are designed to help beginners learn to meditate or to help those with experience in meditation deepen their practice.
- Where is the class located?
We are located at 165 Walt Whitman Road, South Huntington NY 11746. We share a space with Art in Motion Dance Studio. The entrance to The Mindful Place is around back. The shopping center also has a Game Stop. You can park in the back or front of the building.
- What topics are covered in the class?
Participants will learn about stress, and explore the habitual, automatic behavioral, physical, emotional and cognitive patterns as well as investigate, in detail, more effective and skillful responses to the challenges and demands of everyday life. In parallel, we’ll also be exploring what it means to take care of ourselves and flourish, how to relate to ourselves and others more effectively and what it might be like to nourish behaviors and activities that express our innate capacity for well-being. In each class participants will learn about and practice different forms of mindfulness including formal practices of yoga, sitting meditation, body scan, and walking meditation as well as informal practices such as mindful eating, speaking and listening, and mindfulness of daily activities.
- How many people are in the class?
Our beautiful studio space can comfortably fit a class size of 30 or more. However, most classes will be between 12-20 people to ensure spacial comfort without losing the intimacy and individualized care of a smaller group.
